Patron of the Manawatu Orion Motorcycle club, Mort sadly passed away on Oct 10, 2008 aged 89. Mort had dedicated his life to motorcycling in the Manawatu region, loaning his farmland at Himatangi to the club for it to create the Taikorea Motorcycle Park, playground and testing track to many of NZ's top international riders including the King brothers and this years recipient of the Off-Road Rider of the Year Award, cross-country ace Paul Whibley.
